Our Story

Axe and the Oak Distillers

sharing stories
one drink at a time

Axe and the Oak Distillery started off as five friends with a true passion for good whiskey, live music, and the great outdoors. While sipping a glass of bourbon around a campfire, the question of whether they could create a whiskey worth sharing became a challenge worth accepting – and the rest is history.
We believe whiskey is meant to be shared - with friends, with family, and with the community. That’s been our goal since day one. We love seeing people having a great time, sharing stories, laughing and enjoying each other – and what better way to do that than over a good drink. We taste every single batch to make sure it’s perfect.

Axe and the Oak Distillery’s fearless leader. When he’s not making whiskey, you can find him mountain biking, adventuring outdoors, eating chocolate (or tacos) and hanging out with (or scaring) his incredible friends and family. Colorado Springs is Casey’s hometown. He feels grateful and lucky to live here, even after traveling all over the world. He loves serving this community and sharing his passion of whiskey with Colorado Springs.

David George is a distiller through and through. David started distilling moonshine at an old deer hunting campy in Georgia about ten years ago. David knew his moonshine recipe was perfect once his 86-year-old grandfather, also an avid moonshiner, told him it was the best he’d ever had. After living in South Carolina for a few years, he finally moved to Colorado Springs last year, walked into Axe and the Oak Distillery, and found the perfect fit. After apprenticing and night distilling for several months, David was finally promoted to head distiller. Outside of work, you can find David following Tennessee Volunteer Football, spending time with his wife and two kids, or drinking tiki cocktails at Axe and the Oak Whiskey House.

Lauren is Axe and the Oak Distillery’s Swiss Army Knife - her title does not end at “Marketing Director.” Lauren started off as server for Axe and the Oak Whiskey House and worked her way up. Nowadays, you can find her marketing (of course), coordinating and managing events, taking photos for the business, running the social media pages, designing new menus and sales flyers, booking musicians, and picking up the occasional shift at the bar.
